Volunteer opportunities remain for First Night Akron 2014
Lend a hand at this 18th annual community event

Akron, Ohio - Even if you missed the volunteer training sessions last week,
it's not too late to be a part of First Night Akron this New Year's Eve as a
volunteer. Approximately 40 slots remain for bus tour guides, helpers at
interactive activity stations and tracking attendance at venues.

"Many people think because they missed the orientations last week, they can't
volunteer," said Jane Startzman, volunteer coordinator. "We want everyone to
know the deadline is until we fill the slots; it's certainly not too late."

Volunteers are admitted free to all performances and sites before or after
their shift. Friends, families, couples and groups are encouraged to volunteer
together. Volunteers receive a special volunteer lanyard to wear at the event,
a complimentary button and an invitation to the annual volunteer party in
January.

Online applications are available at www.firstnightakron.org/volunteers or by
contacting Jane Startzman at 330-535-3179 x 203. Two shifts are available:
5:30-9 p.m. and 8:30-11:30 p.m. There is greater need for volunteers during the
second shift. In addition, Actors' Summit Theatre in Greystone Hall is
recruiting volunteers to serve as ushers during their performances. Contact
MaryJo Alexander at 330-374-7568 if interested in this opportunity.
