Nowhere in our policies do we say how things are decided. For the longest time, we've been operating under the guise of do-ocracy and consensus.
Consensus is starting to break down. It happens at many spaces and is quite expected. I would like to implement a proper reusable extended period democratic voting system for proposals and future elections (not next weeks, since thats way too soon) at SYNHAK. I feel that we should adopt a secret ballot system with online or otherwise easily made anonymous voting. Here is a very successful system that I feel can be used as the basis: http://ev.kde.org/rules/online_voting.php With extended period democratic voting, we will be able to have membership votes happen for longer than a single meeting. It would be possible to propose something for a vote and have the voting window last an entire week, along with the whole membership being invited to participate.
