Great that your group is adding to and improving OOo. But what I
dislike is that now there are different versions of OOo being
developed, under different names.
Here I agree with you. I have contacted with OOo to distribute our
things under the umbrella of OpenOffice.org. I haven't got positive
answer. I submited all things to OOo project. But they do not interested
in to add some of our goods to OOo project. Hence I have created an
invidiudal project thats collect, create, trenslate new templates and
othor good stuffs. We create an OOo variants under OxyegnOffice
Professional name. I didn't want it but I have to do it. Also we provide
extensions for OOo so this time this is the contributions what is
available for every OOo user.
Also I contacted with ooo-build. Here there is a much higher possibility
to integrate to a product like OOo Novell Edition.
That is very confusing for potential new users and not in the interest
of OOo in my opion. I know it is common practice in Linux, but that
also is the weak point in Linux for simple users like me: too many
choices.
The choices is not a problem IHMO. It makes the selection harder, but
you can find the ideal solution for you. Also you can use that package
what you like. It should not be a problem. In my opinion we provide spo
many things that not be the part of OOo sooner than 3.x series.
Better to keep it all under one name and make extensions and extra's
downloadable from the same website.
Our extensions are available for download from OOo Extension site. Also
we want to release extensions for more languages that is why asked you
to help our efforts.
