I appreciate everyone's input and, as a first-time user of this list, I am satisfied that this could work for future incidents. We found the problem. It was an IIS issue stemming from redirects involving the default website and related DNS. The host value for the default website in the DNS records was a redirect to a site on the same server, therefore, the server couldn't find "localhost" or accept the header of "127.0.0.1". All pretty confusing but really a simple error and fix. Thanks again for your help, though.
