Naturally the browser uses RDS to view the file system so turning it off
kills it. Is coldfusion running fine currently, sounds like you tried a few
things and cf may be haivng other issues at this point? If not, I would
actually encourage you to leave rds off (it's a more secure configuration)
and simply type in the path to your datasource when adding them in.

Subject: [ACFUG Discuss] IO error on Server Communication

Hi everyone,

I installed a trial version of CFMX7 on a brand new Win2K3 server and did
not turn on the RDS service during installation. Now when I need to create
a new data source through the administrator I get the error "IO error on
Server Communication" when I want to browse the file system. I don't want to
uninstall the trial version and installing it over the existing one did not
work. I tried modifying the web.xml file to turn the service on. I rebooted
the CF server after the modification- to no avail. Can anyone please help me
with this issue? I shall greatly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!
