Have you tried putting the xml in a string and sending that to the webservice?

<cfset myRequest = "<soapenv:Envelope
  xmlns:q0="http://demo.xxx.com/services/";
  xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/";
  xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema";
  xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";>
  <soapenv:Header>
  <q0:CredentialSoapHeader>
  <q0:Username>Test</q0:Username>
  <q0:Password>Password</q0:Password>
  </q0:CredentialSoapHeader>
  </soapenv:Header>
  <soapenv:Body>
  <q0:GetPlayDefinition>
  <q0:WMSPlayDefinitionID>100</q0:WMSPlayDefinitionID>
</q0:GetPlayDefinition>
  </soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>" />

<cfset WMSInfo=ws.getPlayDefinition(myRequest) />

Something like that.
