Before I set about programming a method to track email correspondences, I
wondered if anyone knew if this existed already.

Here's our situation:

1. We track all emails our customers make to records they have in
their private database.

2. However, we have 2 new customers asking us to "sync" those emails
with the emails they send out through their outlook/other mail program.

Possible solution:

1. Give them an email address in our mail server. Then as we process
their messages, we track it.

2. If they send an email out of outlook on their own computer, they
would make a cc to the email address we provide them. That way, we can
track those messages as well.

3. If a person emails them at the address we provide, we find the
record with the corresponding email address and add a record in the tracking
table.

4. If a person emails them to another email address that we did NOT
provide them, they would have to forward that to the email address on our
server so we can track it.

This solution seems to rely on our customer doing some remembering to write
and forward emails using the address we provide. If they forget, then all
emails aren't getting tracked.

Does anyone know of another way to try to accomplish this same thing?
