Its been long since I worked with Verity but I will pass on what I remember.
You need to look for cfindex and cfsearch tags. I used cfindex tag to index
data based of *query*. In your case it might be something else.
The index was created like this
<!--- Retrieve all details to be searched --->
<cfquery name="GetDetails" datasource="#client.dbname#">
SELECT
FROM
ORDER BY 1,4,2,3
</cfquery>
<!--- Build custom index on query result above --->
<cfindex action="refresh"
collection="Regs"
key= "Reg_ID"
type="custom"
title="Reason_Text"
query="GetDetails"
body="Reg_Name,MaxDuration,Eligibility_Text,Reason_Text,Note_Text"
custom1="ContentsOfCustomField1"
custom2="state"
custom3="Reason_No"
custom4="Eligibility_No">
The custom1 thru 4 are the columns from the query and are searched against
the search keyword.
I had a form and search page would do this
<cfsearch collection="collectionname" name="GetDetails"
criteria="#FORM.txtKeyword#">
Thats all I can remember. If you can share more details, it might help
further to see whats going on in your case.

We cannot become what we need to be, remaining what we are.
No matter what, find a way. Because thats what winners do.
You can't improve what you don't measure.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention,
sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents
the wise choice of many alternatives.
