Just wanted to pass along that there's an interesting-looking upcoming meeting of the Atlanta OWASP chapter, Mon May 24 7-9 at GA Tech, on the subject of botnets (more sophisticated hacking attempts to exploit flaws in your site/server by distributed, global, anonymous bots--their potential impact, and how to deal with them).
More (including RSVP) at http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Atlanta_Georgia#tab=Chapter_Meetings I hope to be there, for sure. I think that CF servers being bothered by spiders, bots, and other automated request agents (whether dastardly or well-intentioned) are among the prime cause of a lot of server heartache. The problem is not just the security risk (the focus of this talk, I imagine) and the obvious use of bandwidth and other resources, but more important the potential significant impact on session and client variables, a subject that many know I've harped on a lot. /charlie ------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, manage your profile @ http://www.acfug.org?fa=login.edituserform For more info, see http://www.acfug.org/mailinglists Archive @ http://www.mail-archive.com/discussion%40acfug.org/ List hosted by http://www.fusionlink.com -------------------------------------------------------------
