Flex and your existing View logic
We have three presentations line up for this month. The basic theme is how
to make Flex work with your existing HTML code and also how to make your
Flex application look better with the Degrafa graphics framework.

Degrafa : Declarative Graphics Framework
<http://www.degrafa.com/> A topic that got a lot of attention at the latest
360|Flex Conference was Degrafa. It is an open source graphical framework
built for Flex and uses MXML instead of Actionscript. With Degrafa, you can
do advance graphical techniques such as skinning, masks, shapes, repeaters
and advance styling straight from your MXML code. It can programmatically
create and manipulate your graphics at runtime and make your Flex
applications look even better. John will show how to install Degrafa and it
can speed up your Flex development.

Changing HTML based Forms to Flex
Darin will show a technique for using Flex and ColdFusion to refresh the
interface for legacy HTML forms without having to change the business logic
or technology (asp, php etc...) on which the form is based.

Flex and Javascript Layering
Our second topic is using the ExternalInterface class and JavaScript to
allow Flex to "play nice" with the browser. Darin will show a simple
technique using layering to maximize the usable footprint of your browsers
visible screen real estate.

About the Speaker:
Darin Kohles:
Darin is an independent consultant primarily developing Flex and Flash based
applications for a variety of clients ranging from the music industry,
public relations, e-learning, and heath insurance to computer parts and
content management. Darin is a major contributor to the alpha release of
Boomsocket, a ColdFusion based CMS developed by Digital Positions.

John Mason:
John works at FusionLink and has been programming with ColdFusion since 1996
and Flash since 2001. He is a contributor to the CFDJ and actively posts on
several ColdFusion, Flash and Flex related lists. He holds an Adobe
ColdFusion Advance Certification and a MBA from Georgia Southern University.
Currently, he enjoys working on his Flex certification and building beta
applications in AIR.
