I've also found the following useful: - ActionScript3 with Design Patterns; Lott, Patterson; Adobe Press - 2007 - ActionsScript 3.0 Cookbook; Lott, Schall, Peters; O'Reilly - 2007 - programming Flex 2; Kazoun, Lott; O'Rielly - 2007 In all actuality, I've found the online forums and the online documentation to be the best source of instruction. The best part of learning, I've found is sharing, and the online forums are the best place for that - just be prepared to filter. The 'on-the-cheap' learning either involves 500 emails per day, or 3x500+ pages of reading. Either way, hands on - like the exercises mentioned above seem to be helpful to get started. If you've got the time, take a class(es) like echoeleven offers; it will allow you to set aside time to focus on Flex in an environment where you can get answers without having to result to Google and a prayer.
