There aren't any text primitives in the Flex graphics APIs.
Typically, you set text on some component, and add that component to
the canvas.

The most primitive text component I am aware of is the TextField:

Otherwise, you are reduced to creating your own stick-figure
characters via the 2D graphics APIs.
