I'm running FP 10.  I hit
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/langref/mx/controls/Tree.html in IE, FF,
and Chrome and saw the tree example no issue.  Maybe a styling change or
something?  Try pulling all styling out of your Tree and see.
