ActionScript 3.0 Cookbook http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596526955/ Neither one is appropriate for beginners w/no programming experience. But if you are new to Actionscript, the cookbook is great. The Design Pattern book is also a very solid read, but beware: the signal to noise ratio is very high. There is simply not much fluff there, so it probably is not the best tome for leisurely reading.
