Hello!

Finally here is the link to the collected work of attendees at the FSCONS
workshop which I ran on "Boosting Free Software within charities and NGOs".
Please have a look at the etherpad, add your ideas, comment on what is there,
and/or send your views to the discussion mailing list.

A reminder of what we worked on:

*Group 1*: "Contact charities who already use Free Software and ask them to
publicise this fact"

*Group 2*: "Devise questions for a survey to send to third sector
organisations"

*Group 3*: "Would an information pack for charities be useful? What should it
include?"

_Next steps:_

- Collect large lists of contact details for charities in European countries;
can you find a list of addresses for charities in your country / region?

- Start putting together information for the pack for charities - we can reuse
existing articles from fsfe.org, some are in the Free Software section.
Material that we need that is currently missing should be identified

- Collect list of charities that are already using Free Software without
publishing any information about it so that we can send them the letter from
  Group 1.

- Start putting together information for the pack for charities - we can reuse
existing articles from fsfe.org, some are in the Free Software section.
Material that we need that is currently missing should be identified

- Get access to survey software in order to digitise the survey and allow easy
printing and machine reading of the results [I shall endeavour to get Lime
  Survey installed on FSFE servers]

If you like the look of a particular task, please take a lead in working on
it! My time is currently limited as I am working hard to get the Document
Freedom Day 2012 campaign off to a good start (http://test.documentfreedom.org)
and any contribution you can make, or task you can lead will make a big
difference.

Working to improve the relationship between charities and Free Software is a
long term goal for both me personally and for FSFE; good sustained results are
more important than short term achievements in my view.

NB If you edit etherpad please set your name so that we can track who did
what, and please join the [email protected] mailing list before replying to
this message to save moderation issues / delays.

Thanks!

Sam.
