I asked Ian Wells if he could outline some form of 'Roadmap' for our progress towards SME v9.
The idea was to have a kind of rough outline of the stages involved, and where we are in the process. He has started the document here and will work on it as time allows. http://wiki.contribs.org/SME9.0_Roadmap Hopefully some of the 'jobs' that need doing may become apparent from this. Clearly the most obvious things will be bugs that need fixing as an ongoing thing. But it may prompt questions as we go, and give some of us mortals an idea of where we are in the process. If you thinking that you would like to help but either feel you don't have the experience, or don't know what to do, don't just sit there, please ASK and we will find you something !!! We are trying to simplify and document some of the processes so that anyone can have a go. I have been doing some builds, and quite honestly I'm still not really sure I understand exactly WHAT I am doing, but I know HOW to do it, and can document my progress. It all helps ! So don't be shy or think you don't have any skills. And don't just think 'oh someone else will do it and I can just enjoy the fruits of their labour'. If you don't contribute, it won't happen. Catch us here, or on IRC at freenode #SME_Server - there is usually someone about who will give you a helping hand. If there isn't, email someone, or check back a bit later.
