In practice very little is actually tested at this stage other than
trying to open up all server-manager pages.
I just started to get deeper in server-manager and am able to create a
host name and deleted it again and the same with a domain name and
deleting it again.

Yes, I just run all tests to see if my install works. I have not yet
started to dig into the tests. For instance the FTP was due to not being
enabled, whereas the SSH is a library issue that I need to resolve - I'm
using my COS6x64 build server.
Just opening all server-manager pages can find errors, at least during
SME 9 it caused errors in the logs. So a great start.
So I'm impressed with a good start and I hope that more people jump in
and help.
