I agree with Charlie, when it comes to determining which and how many
installations we have out there YUM should be able to give a good answer -
those who do not "yum home" we will never be able to reach anyways. YUM as
far as I see it should be able to provide numbers and major version - will
it also be able to provide minor?

I my world this is number one priority.

I think that data should be divided up into two categories. #1 Social Proof
and #2 Knowledge for roadmap.

The #1 should hopefully show the world that this is a disti which is very
much alive, many installation, many regions, and then it should indicate the
impact that the server makes. For the last something like amount of users,
amount of storage, amount of mails per day, etc. should be impressive number
showing that many rely on this server with success. These number should be
all over the front page on koozali.org and drive new users.

When it comes to #2 then I think we should know more about the use model of
the installed servers - mode (server or gateway) to determine whether to
enhance firewall functionality (general security), contribs installed to
determine whether some should be in the core, basically data that will help
internal prioritization.

This should not, in my opinion, only get into the new ISO but be included in
an update to existing installation - otherwise we will obtain so very little
information. So an update to a module we all use (e-smith-bas,
smeserver-yum).

Terry, before we go building something new, how about we determine what
information is already available from all the yum updates happening on a
regular bases?
