Gavin, I've moved this to discussion. HF was right. I've no business posting
in devinfo. I hadn't posted before tonight for exactly that reason. However,
seeing others posting what I was thinking encouraged me, for which I apologise.

HF, I will now confine my posts to discussion, but will continue to lurk in
devinfo as I do actually learn a bit now and then :-)

With you here Jim, lets start a movement here :-)...come on guys all for one etc etc..whoa betide any one who raises technical issues in this discussion :-)

It is just my opinion, I don't and probably never will write a line of anything that will go into SME server.

Do we stay with the RH/CentOS base - Yes (some may differ)

Then tart up sme9 as has been suggested by John Crisp, use it to develop changes/look/layout, as much as it will allow for easy carry over to sme10. Introduce a new UI if that is also indicated, may I suggest going to far with sme9 would end up being wasted efort in the long run, its a dead end street, just like sme8 and our resource stocks are very limited.

What is needed going forward is getting a sme10 alpha out, nothing can be done on its UI/S-M until then. As part of that discuss/vote/decide whatever on what will drive the UI in sme10.

Simplistic, most definetly, still just my opinion from afar.
