Hi Bob,

To Disable Gmenu2x, follow this guide here:
http://en.qi-hardware.com/wiki/Disable_Gmenu2x_autostart

I would use 'nano' as your text editor if you haven't used joe before. For 
example:

nano /etc/rc.d/S99start

Then reboot your NanoNote and it will start in console mode.
