I use one such panel with a 12V battery and 5V USB output to 
charge the nanonote, cellphone and a few other gadgets: 
during the winter there are no issues, but during the summer 
the gadgets tend to become a bit warmer than I'm confortable with.

I believe it is better to charge the panel battery[1] under the sun 
and then charge the nanonote from the battery indoors (or during 
the evening, or otherwise in the shade.

[1] a common car battery, in my case
