My battery life is much better than 6 hours if the screen is off--I
have accidentally left it on overnight and still found it running
the next morning.

My guess is that one could leave it on quite a long time for use as
a reference if you actively turned the screen off before you put it
away.  24 hours might be a bit much, though.  Is it?
