Hmm, have you tried ASE's zoom function (maybe Ctrl+0..9, but not sure),
for getting more control?

Currently the mouse emulation is already variable speed: if you press
the direction key, it starts slowly, then ramps up until top speed.  If
you release the key, it also slows down gradually.  Currently the
acceleration constants are pretty high, so the cursor feels 'light',
i.e. not much "inertia", and you won't mostly notice that the speed is
variable (although it would feel less natural, if it sped up/slowed
down immediately).

Do you think that adding more inertia, i.e. making speed change more
gradually, would help?  Maybe the constants should be part of a config
file or changeable through environment variables.
