I'd try to make L-shaped pieces of metal where one leg is on the
small side of the battery and the other, where also the cable is
attached, on the battery's top/bottom. Fix it in place - after
soldering (*) - with superglue.
(*) Superglue, when heated, emits toxic fumes. Thus it's better
to be done with the soldering before the gluing starts.
