Sounds nice, but it is a complete mismatch of the word "open". We have all one aim: spreading the idea and the "incarnations" of it, this means hardware. Without hardware, no hacking, no community etc. For spreading the hardware to the masses, the good old way of manufactorer-distributor-reseller is helpful. I buy the Nanonotes from EU-distributor Tuxbrain for 91 eur and sell them for 109 eur in Germany. This is a margin of 18 eur. It may sound "ok" for you, but I can tell you it is too less to make a living. I dont complain, I am not Robin Hood, but what I want to say: at the moment OpenSourceHardware is possible only as subvention/hobby. Now Qi-Hardware is selling its product to some other reseller such cheap, that it can be sold to end customer for USD 94 (=71 eur). This makes simply confusions on all sides. In the end, this is not good for the sales, therefor for the project.
