On 11/12/13 (Dec. 11th 2013), ~60 people gathered to make donations to
free softwares and to discuss projects in need for donations, donation
systems (paypal? flattr? gittip? crowdfunding?), and more.

See http://111213.net/bilan for details (in french, sorry.)

Before the event, a few sponsors generously contributed 2353€. During
the event, 15 people donated 550€ to various projects. We shared the
2150€ among those projects (we kept 203€ for food and drinks).

For example, someone gave 40€ to Gimp, and we added 156€ thanks to the
sponsors' money.

This was all nice and informal! There were spontaneous lightening
talks about free softwares seeking for donations, discussion of new
donation systems and whether crowdfunding was really promising, etc.

So we are doing it again this year, on the same date: 11/12

Kinda "hug a FLOSS developer" day :)

This year we want to reach a new audience: the non-geeks. We want to
let them contribute to the FLOSS ecosystem with their own donations,
even (or especially) those who don't know how to donate, what project
to donate to, etc.

The event will be hosted by Mozilla Paris, and we hope to gather a
lot of FLOSS-friends *and* non-geeks. No preliminary crowdfunding
this year as I was not able to get myself on the deck on time.

Hope this clarifies what a hackadon is! Let me know.
