Why am I still seeing 6.7.8 or something that old in the newest available firmware? :P

No, I have problems with it to...just disable it.  As for desktop
anti-virus - *shudder* - now there's something I only let autoupdate
on my wifes machine (and that's purely out of laziness).  I trust
pfSense more than McAfee (gee, I'm a little biased), but then our
autoupdate isn't really an autoupdate, it just let's you know if
there's new firmware and let's you download and install that firmware
w/out bringing it to the machine the browser is running on first.
