ok.. so its not considered uncommon for me to have 50 nodes when I only have 10 carp interfaces (x2 firewalls)? I thought thats what they were for, but that many just seems/seemed excessive.

A unique ID of the machine that box is syncing with.   On each reboot
a random id is generated and the previous ID will stick around until
the states are flushed.

Consider this the way that pfsync knows where a state originated from.
