Hi List,
I have been working in a medium size setup. I am wondering if any one has tried ssl load balancing with pfsense. We use F5 (http://www.f5.com/) for some of the requirements. Recently there has been a need for another loadbalanced solution. The scenerio is we place two web-servers (running web application) behind loadbalancer but they will be running only http servr. Load balancer will proxy the ssl for cliens and client will have ssl tunnel with loadbalancer and loadbalancer will have http communication with servers in teh pool. This is how we do it with F5. Is there a way we can do it with pfsense?? Hardware is not an issue, I have enough salvaged hardware to beef up the box ( I Gig with P4 and hard drive).
One more question, if above hardware is with gigbit lan cards on the box, what will be performnce degradation when compared to F5 (big-ip box) for a site with daily @ 8-10 Gig http/s transfer.
I have munged through the archives but so far have not been able to get some idea about it. I am fairly open to put in some coding effort and have the skills to understand and add code to the php (webui) interface as well.
I am open to suggestions/google links/articles... preety much anything.
Cheers
