I've just installed 1.2 beta on a Sun Fire X2100 M2,
by booting pfsense 1.2 beta CD from a external USB DVD drive.
Install was straightforward and without problems.
I only see bg0 and bg1, though. According to dmesg it's
the Broadcomms. Do I have to load extra drivers (how?)
or use a snapshot in order to see the nForce NICs?
Followup on myself: I just installed
http://snapshots.pfsense.com/FreeBSD6/RELENG_1_2/updates/pfSense-Full-And-Embedded-Update-1.2-BETA-1-TESTING-SNAPSHOT-06-06-2007.tgz
and rebooted, but that one still doesn't have the nfe drivers from:
http://www.f.csce.kyushu-u.ac.jp/~shigeaki//software/freebsd-nfe.html
nfe won't be there in 1.3, correct? I can survive with
just two interfaces (WAN and LAN) for a while, but I do need
at least DMZ rather soon. When they say I should stay
away from http://snapshots.pfsense.com/FreeBSD7/
I presume it's for a good reason, right?
Supposedly 7-CURRENT's nfe/nve driver support all got merged into nve I
believe, and while I haven't tested it it appeared to be an improvement
in the right direction.
CURRENT still isn't really ready for production use though.
I also couldn't find how to choose RAID 1 in the
installer. I'm new to FreeBSD and might have easily
missed it, though. Is it there, or is it also a
snapshot feature?
Doesn't seem to be there. Can I enable this (gmirror?) manually?
Or should I wait for 1.3, which will have it?
