If you have anti-spoofing setup in your Checkpoint firewall then the admin would have setup your topology as well. This information with pen and paper or an excel spreadsheet should help you get your rules laid out to make an easy transition to pfSense.

Thanks - It is already installed on our server, an old Compaq Proliant DL380.

I am playing with the interface - I just don't want to screw up our network. We have an ancient Sun box running CheckPoint right now, and it's previous admin had so many weird rules in it that apply to machines that are no longer on the network that I couldn't make any sense of it. Before it dies, I need to replace it.

I just thought that there might be a step-by-step tut on what rules to put on what interfaces for a generic 3-interface setup. We have a 2-segment lan, 2 servers in our DMZ, and a double T1.

Quoting jason whitt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

download iso burn to cd install set interfaces go to lan ip address login
with default login admin/pfsense go from there.

Hello, Folks -

Is there somewhere on the net a tutorial for pfSense that is for the
raw beginner? I would like to use it at the library I work at and have
done iptables scripts before, but would like to see a tutorial that
takes a person from install to cranking out a basic set of rules for
different scenarios. For instance, if a person wanted to use it with a
LAN/WAN/DMZ sort of thing.

Any thing out there?

Thanks!
