Oh, we forgot our roots. It was great that you (Ira) reminded us of the
roots of Hamakor.

Seems that the problem is that the words "amuta", "friend", "yadid", and
the other terms used in the world of amutot have quasi-religious
connotations. They incite emotions and memories from "real" amutot and
arguments and bog people down in procedural discussions.
For example, the big argument about members vs. yadidim was an exercise
in silliness by itself. I am happy that it was mostly settled by the
failure to have quorum in a General Assembly until a yadid (who was
already qualified to be member) agreed to change status into voting
member.
It seems to me that the Big and Dirty Religious War today is about
whether Hamakor should take active role (and which) in community
activities, besides those of providing money and PR contact person.
I wonder whether the following would help (together with stern reminders
to people to browse it before continuing to argue about Hamakor's role
in the Big Scheme of Things):
A Web page which is HOWTO guide for project leaders. If you want to
lead a project (like August Penguin or the Hatzor project), how would
you accomplish this task, and which help would you get from Hamakor and
how to enlist it; as well as other advice about matters like motivating
additional volunteers, drawing budget, recruiting resources from outside
the Hamakor, etc.
Can the successful project leaders please summarize your hard-gained
wisdom and have such a Web page created (if you send me in private
E-mail your stuff, I'll volunteer to put together the Web page).
