Some updates/answers:

* As of 4 Nov. 2007, yours truly is a registered "observer" member of
SII ("Machon Hatkanim") for JTC1/SC34/WG1 (the relevant working group
for OOXML), on behalf of "Hamakor" (members are normally registered as
representatives of companies /organizations).

* Note that this happened *after* the ballot, so I have no knowledge
of previous discussions, and had no part in preparing the institutes
comments mentioned above.

To the questions forwarded by Shlomi:
I do not have all the information - will try to get more accurate
answers later (before the deadline...).
Note that the meeting in February is open only to NBs that voted and
made comments - I was not aware of this prior to my registration - and
we would not be eligible to attend at all had the other members not
submitted their comments. Personally, I would most probably not be
able to attend, but will make sure to discuss matters with other reps.
if they get sent.

Re: Rob Weir's blog (quoted by tzafrir) : Indeed as mentioned there I
do not have access to any documents
marked with (P) (link to committee archive is given in the blog),
which seem to contain most of the non-public contents. I had asked
(through SII contact) for them to be opened to O members too, but did
not get reply yet. If I get permissions, most probably I would not be
authorized to post the contents in public forums such as this, but
would be happy to discuss them privately with any board member or
interested party.

As for the dispositions for the Israeli comments, I believe that since
most of the facts are public anyway, no harm would come if I reveal
the contents of the single (out of 33 comments) disposition: it was a
correction to a typo (should be "text" instead of "test", in two
places) and it was accepted...

Schachar - please send me your criticism of the comments (dont have to
be formal - just short list of points by mail or by phone would be
fine). Sooner or later I will have to discuss this with the people who
wrote them...

    Regards,
           Amit
