Hi Steven,
Indeed you are correct and the flexibility and functionality is limited a bit. The first steps in this direction was utilizing drupal which is good for scenarios where you want a blog which is also a wiki and a shop and news section and a media section etc.. etc.. The problem here is not technical it's simply the availability of the volunteers, I tried to setup something for Gilad to use but never had time to fine tune it properly to hamakor's needs. So empirically Drupal could have done a good job mediating and enabling these integrations, but there are way more people that are proficient with wordpress the drupal these days. Maintaining the site across "webmaster kings" is very important and I think outweighs most technical features or visual flexibility. The site is perfectly functional and I'd try to use some of the more artistic oss communtiy members (shahar mizrachi, tom bigelazen) for the logo stuff and for the design touchups.
best regards
Lior

It it looks good and is usable, all is fine, but as someone who runs a wiki (pmwiki) and a blog (wordpress) on the same server, I believe that you can't get wiki functionality with wordpress - at least not easily. It is better suited to linear additions (posts vs. time) with comments, in a fixed style, than to two dimensional layout of a wiki (groups of pages) which are not really chronological in nature.

But the first part of your answer explains the situation, and resolves the issue.

A. The wiki is not part of the wordpress site, technically. It is
installed alongside it.

B. If it looks good and it is usable, who cares what the program is
supposed to do?

C. because the webMaster said so :-)
