Just to help you understanding Neo better… You can type a lot of common unicode symbols directly. In contrast to your comparison on your web page you can type many math symbols – see Ebene 6 (6ᵗʰ layer) on http://neo-layout.org And to use in formulas you can even type greek letters – see Ebene 5 and 6 (5ᵗʰ and 6ᵗʰ layer). Many other symbols like ⚣ or ℱ you can’t type directly but as a composition of single symbols. For exemple you start a to compose (♫) by typing Mod3+Tab and than you type two times ♂ (which is directly on the Neo‑layout) –in short: ♫♂♂ → ⚣ The script capital F you can type by pressing ♫scF. The same way you can get ℳ or ℛ. You should take into account using this idea for your Layout as well, because it’s a really great idea. > Still, for those who > do not type in German; and want an easy learning curve from QWERTY; > and/or have an American-style keyboard without a <> key, Qwpr remains > a viable option. Completely right – you definitely should not feel discouraged. At first Neo is mainly designed to meet the requirements of german writers and second you took a totaly different approach.
