I propose that we do bug fixes on the main tree and release a 1.0 soon.  Then
cutover to one of the refactored branches and call that 2.0 or 1.1.  I'm
leaning towards Fabrizio's implementation since (I believe) John has a bug in
his (or maybe it's fixed now).

I think the project is already succeeding, just not much active development. 
And we have a whole slew of developers with a low ratio of folks actually
committing.  I would lose no sleep over removing some developers, or we can
just count votes from the core group as quote for voting.
