JSP 1.2 supports JSTL, which your patch has in it. JSP 1.1 does not work on a JSP 1.1/Servlet 2.2 container (i.e. WebSphere 4x). To show what a newbie I am, I never even learned 2.2/1.1, when I started digging into servlets/jsps, it was at 1.2/2.3 (December 2001).
I try to stay away from JDK 1.3 and Servlet 2.2/JSP 1.1 projects - there's too much cool stuff in the newer specs (i.e. Filters).
