Matt and John,

I agree with the point made in the forum message below.  It is
not the first time I have heard that the way the displaytag
manipulates it's collection should be exposed or
interchangeable.  

We should also consider non-sql implementations that include
interactions with CICS, poi-xls, or other legacy information
sources.
