When I grabbed HEAD for displaytag-1.1 and updated my webapp's JAR file, it started to complain of two incompatibilities in commons-beanutils. displaytag-1.1 uses ConvertUtilsBean and NestedNullException from beanutils-1.7.0, and both of these are new to that specific version of beanutils. I'd like to request that you reduce your version dependency on commons-beanutils to 1.6.1 to ease the upgrade path for people who want to upgrade displaytags-1.0 to displaytags-1.1 in-place without updating other dependencies. I would normally just update commons-beanutils to the latest version, but it happens to be used by other dependencies (hibernate, etc.), and changing that dependency introduces more risk into the upgrade for displaytag-1.1. I hope you give this some consideration, I know it seems counterintuitive, but the same thing can be achieved with beanutils-1.6.1, and you won't force people to upgrade other dependencies.
