Hi, Would you please describe the names and purposes of the various CVS tags and branches for displaytag please? Here are my guesses based on a few posts from the mailing lists.
The *tag* "displaytag1" exactly pinpoints the 1.0 release on January 1, 2005. Is this correct? The *branch* "displaytag1_0_branch" is rooted at the *tag* "displaytag1" and is used for bug fixes for the 1.0 release only. Is this correct? The *tag* "Root_displaytag11_branch" is the root of the *branch* "displaytag11_branch", and does not correspond to any release. Is this correct? The *branch* "displaytag11_branch" is rooted at the *tag* "Root_displaytag11_branch" and its purpose is for current development and integrating user contributions that didn't make it into the 1.0. Is this correct? The *branch* HEAD is not used for anything. Is this correct? My assumptions may be completely wrong, but this was the best I could divine from the mailing lists. Getting clarification on the purpose and intent of the various CVS tags and branches will help casual users (such as me) contribute minor bug fixes. For example, I found a bug in the 1.0 release that I would like to contribute a path for, but I wasn't sure which branch to diff against, or which branch to build to see if the bug had already been fixed.
