DisplayTag does not handle external sort well when using parial list

After migration from 1.0 to 1.1 in order to use the new partial list feature,
it seems to me that DisplayTag does not handle the external sorting well, more
precisely it continues to do the local sorting(in memory sorting) even though
if we specify the sort="external" attribute.
