You've run into what happens when a library compiled with 1.4 is used on a
1.3 JVM. StringBuffer.append(StringBuffer) was added with 1.4, and as 1.3
doesn't have it... no such method.

The solution is to make sure the types are specified in such a way that
the 1.3 API is catered to. You could compile the library yourself, if
you'd like; please file a bug, and I'll correct the CVS tree.
