[displaytag-user] dispaly:column tag?

Would it be useful to define an attribute for colspan or rowspan for the 
"display:column" tag?
I would like to do something along the lines of this...

<table>
<tr>
   <td colpan="3"><hr></td>
</tr>
.....
</table>
