Heiko,

I don't contribute much code to this tag - rather it's been mostly authored by Fabrizio. I've cc'd the displaytag-user list - hopefully he'll answer your question there. As far as PDF support, you could probably do that pretty easily using the XML export and FOP. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea for the tag to do PDF export. In most cases, the PDFs will need to be "prettied up" for reports - with headers, page numbers and such. If we do create an export to PDF feature, I imagine we'll end up with a fair amount of "how do I decorate my PDF report". The displaytag is meant to display tables, not to produce reports. But that's just my opinion. ;-)

Dear Matt,

First of all thank you for the great project. It saves a lot of time
generating lots of tables.

I've a question about the XLS-export-param.
Due to a design-weakness in our project it could be, that the
display-table is nested with a template-tag which wraps pageheader and
pagefooter around the table. This leds to sending the content-type twice
to the browser (first text/html and then the xls-one) which results in
an empty xsl-worksheet. We have solved this by splitting the pages in a
'view' and a 'modell' page and it works. But to distinguish between
html-table an xls-export we are using the 6578706f7274 parameter. It
seemed, that this is a static param (perhaps a kind of hash-code?),
isn't it? Can we rely on the name of this param, or will it change in
some future versions? We just check whether the param is set, or is it
recommendable to check its value?

Last but not least it would be nice to know if there is a pdf-export
planed in the (near) future?

Best regards and many thanks in advance
