Hi list,

I don't mean to insist: I'm just wondering if there's something wrong in the email i sent last week (see above), or if it just happened that nobody replied to it by chance ? In any case, it didn't mean to hurt anyone's sensibility, and I was just being curious and trying to sort things out / understand.

Cheers,

greg

Hi list,

From what I can read in past mails on this list, I understand that sorting a column which has a ColumnDecorator will be based on the actual value of the current row in that column.
I thought this would also be the case for TableDecorators, but apparently it's not, and this "bug" report + patch applied on -b2 seem to confirm my impression: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=814058&group_id=73068&atid=536613

I agree with the anonymous comment there that says it's non sense. While it might be useful in some cases, there are many cases where it just hurts. (Think of a column that holds customer names and where the table decorator adds html links which use the ID of the customer has a parameter and you can see the sorting is totally wrong).

So, 2 questions:
- why is there such a difference between ColumnDecorators and TableDecorators ?
- is there a way to have the behaviour I want with a TableDecorator or do I have to use a ColumnDecorator? Would you consider switching back to the previous.

Thanks for any info or tip !

Cheers,

greg

ps: on a totally different topic, has there been any move or is there at least any interest in having HeaderDecorators ? (See http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=959659&group_id=73068&atid=536616)
