I should point out now that if you're using ProPolice and other things from [sys-devel/hardened-gcc] on one box you must use them on all or you'll run into problems when you use distcc to compile things. Typically, for Gentoo all you really need to do is 'emerge hardened-gcc' since this is somewhat pluggable. I should also note, with Gentoo, some things do not compile with hardened-gcc for some goofy reason that I can't really explain (since I don't know what's going on).
