The Linux kernel panic when running distcc evidently happens on
uniprocessor Pentium 4 systems running either the e1000 or the 3c59x
driver and when running distcc jobs via ssh (earlier I saw the problem
on e1000 + SMP hardware + rsh.). Setting DISTCC_MMAP=0 does not seem
to help; at least one uniprocessor e1000 system crashed regardless.
The kernel version is 2.4.22-1.2197 from Fedora Core 1 updates. Anyone
using distcc on Fedora 1? Does this problem goes away if the kernel is
updated to the latest stock kernel in the 2.4-series? (Should I file a
Fedora bug?)
