Most likely because of two factors :) one is that all of us here are volunteers, and most of us have to fit OO.o in between the rest of our life, and secondly (applicable to me, not sure about others) I was effectively chewed out by our South African "man on the ground" and asked (told really) *not* to continue listing South African distributors... However since it seems that he hasn't (yet) responded to you, here's my AUD 0.05 worth. You could, but bear in mind that Open Office (minus the .org) is a registered trademark of several companies which have absolutely noting to do with office software (that's the reason we include the .org in the name). You might also find that most of the suitable domain names are gone. > Would .com domain ending be ok, or .org be more appropriate ? Whatever you prefer (and can find). There was much discussion about this several months back, and the answer from Sun is "yes, you may include the JRE installer(s) on any CD you distribute. > How can I use your logos on my website ? Look in the Art project <http://marketing.openoffice.org/art/> and select the logo/button you wish to use. Some are listed at <http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/index.html> (select Africa in the drop-down). This list is not exhaustive, I believe there are more distributors but I don't really know who they are. > > I would now appreciate your opinion on this matter, as soon as possible > , so I can then register my proposed website. A few things you might find useful - OO.o has been translated into most of the languages used in South Africa (in fact more localizations than any other country). There is also a standard ISO image available on the net for download. It can be found on your favourite mirror, under the <contrib/iso/en/> sub-directory. this one is only in English, but would give you some ideas. Be warned, it has been created in such a way that unpacking it to modify some aspect of it will result in a size that won't fit back onto a standard CD (many files are replaced by links, rather than having duplicate files). It will at least give you an idea of what other distributors feel is useful to include. > > I wish you guys all the best for the future and keep on growing ! > Cheers > Don -- Alex Fisher Co-Lead, CD-ROM Project OpenOffice.org Marketing Community Contact Australia/New Zealand http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/
