I get almost nothing but spam from this list.
My guess is there is so much spam either because:
1. Noone is banning spammers and spammers have subscribed to the list.
and/or
2. Anyone who sends an e-mail to the list e-mail address gets their e-mail resent to the list. In other words, its not checking that subscribers only can send e-mail.
I hesitate to respond to this e-mail for fear spammers will get my address. Won't do them much good since I report spam and refuse to buy anything even if I want it from spam.
I'm replying from an e-mail address that didn't subscribe to the list. If it goes through, the problem is item number 2.

Hi Alex,
Nope it's not only the digest, I get stacks of spam through the ordinary
distro list as well and I don't get the digest version. In fact I get
more spam than real...Ebay scams, Nigerian scams, Wells Fargo Scams...
all sorts. Heaps of Chinese Spam.
