Greetings.
I work for a small, OEM computer store in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I would
like to suggest becoming a community distributor to the owner of the
company, handling OEM and CDROM distribution. My store is in a low income
neighbourhood, and many of my customers are unable to afford both a
computer, and Microsoft Office (which may be more than half the price of the
computer!) Before I go to him, however, I have a couple of questions that I
expect he will have.
1. Is it acceptable within the license to charge for preinstallation, and
what is the "going rate" or "fair rate" for that service? It seems to me
after reading your site that the answer is "yes", but having it confirmed
would be nice. He'll want to recoup the cost of media and employee time.
2. What support is expected to be repaid to OpenOffice.org and its
community?
3. Are we required to use the disk labels on the OpenOffice.org site? We
don't have a colour printer for store use, or blank disk labels.
4. Our systems come with only the documentation provided with the components
used in their assembly. Where would we put the disclaimer? (i.e., on the
sales invoice, on a separate sheet, does it matter?)
5. Would we have to offer more than the standard CDROM ISOs
(http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/index.html#cdrom)? Is the copy of
the license included with the standard CD sufficient, or would we have to
provide printed copies?
I apologize if any of these questions are foolish or obvious. I want to be
absolutely sure of all of this before going to my employer. I thank you for
your time.
Best regards,
